This application stands as the first and only vector magnetometer available for iPhone, offering a unique opportunity to visualize the magnetic field in three dimensions for devices starting from the 3GS model. It enables users to explore and measure the direction and strength of magnetic fields surrounding various objects, which can be quite intriguing.

Among its functionalities, the app can serve as a rudimentary metal detector, assisting in locating electrical lines or pipes behind walls—a prudent measure before drilling. Additionally, it allows users to make rough estimates of their geographic north-south orientation without relying on GPS, highlighting its versatility even at altitude during flights, where users can observe variations in magnetic declination. The playful aspect of this tool also invites users to engage with their environment, making it enjoyable to deduce what lies within wrapped gifts.

The application features four distinct display modes for visualizing the magnetic field:

<li>Absolute Mode: Displays the absolute magnetic field strength in microtesla (μT) as measured by the magnetometer.</li>
<li>North Mode: Presents a compass interface showing geographic north alongside a pointer indicating magnetic north, illustrating the difference between the two.</li>
<li>Declination Mode: Two arrows depict the Earth’s magnetic declination, with values reaching 0° at the equator and increasing towards the poles, indicated by a blue pointer.</li>
<li>Relative Mode: Shows the relative strength of the magnetic field by calculating the absolute value minus a compensation vector in μT.</li>
</ul>

In conjunction with its magnetometer features, this application also provides five display modes for acceleration visualization:

<ul>
<li>Absolute Mode: Shows reverse acceleration experienced by the iPhone (1g when held steadily).</li>
<li>X-Rotation - Y-Rotation - Z-Rotation: Displays rotational movement around the X-, Y-, and Z-Axis, numerically indicated between -180° and +180°. A calibration feature is anticipated in future updates to enhance usability as a leveling tool.</li>
<li>Relative Mode: Indicates relative acceleration strength through calculation of absolute value minus compensation vector.</li>
</ul>

While primarily intended for recreational use, this application has demonstrated commendable accuracy, leveraging the inherent capabilities of both the accelerometer and magnetometer. The accelerometer's typical range is ±3g (with a combined display potentially reaching ~4.2g), while magnetometers are calibrated internally at thresholds exceeding ±120μT along any axis. User experiences are highly encouraged and appreciated for further improvement.
